What is RubricOne?
RubricOne
is an incredibly easy to use, automated system of grading and scoring
Performance Assessments. Use RubricOne
on-line or attain complete mobility by using a handheld computer. RubricOne gives users a very simple method
of creating Rubrics or Checklists for performance assessments, a system that
allows mobility in grading and scoring the assessments, and a system that
provides immediate feedback.
What is a Rubric?
A rubric is a matrix of Objectives
and Levels. Objectives are the goals or
key skills required in an assignment.
Levels are the attributes of the objective that detail varying levels of
success. For example, if a teacher is
grading students on a speech, objectives such as Eye Contact, Vocal Inflection,
and Body Language might be used. These
are the key skills to be graded. The
levels might be Master, Apparent, Observable, and Emerging. The Master level would be defined as meeting
all requirements of the objective.
Apparent would meet certain requirements but not all and so on.
What is a Checklist?
A Checklist includes a list of
objectives, but does not require levels.
It can be a Pass/Fail Checklist or a Pass/Fail with Scoring
Checklist. Assessments such as inspections
only require a pass or fail score on various Objectives. Sometimes, an assessment requires a pass or
fail grade, but it can include a score with it. These are typically utilized when the performance will be graded
over and over again. The idea is to
view growth and improvement.
What is a Conditional Checklist?
A Conditional Checklist is a list
of objectives that are often placed in groups.
In certain cases, if an item being assessed fails, then the entire group
fails. However, the rest of the
objectives can still be graded. The key
in this situation is the feedback.
There may be cases where there are five objectives to pass. An item or student fails the first item yet
passes the next four. It is still
important feedback even though the person or item fails the overall
assessment. There would be a better
understanding of requirements to pass the overall going forward.

Yes! Glad you asked. RubricOne

It contains 3 types of Libraries:
-
Public Library
The Public Library is an area containing
a wide variety and number of Rubrics and Checklists that anyone may copy to
their own Personal Library. Once in
your Personal Library, you may use them as is, or edit them to give them your
own touch.

Organizational Library
The Organizational Library is a semi-private

Can I create my own Scoring System? Can it be customized?
Yes. When creating any Rubric or Checklist, the
user selects how much each objective is worth on a point scale. If a user wants to select one point maximum
for one objective and 10 points for another, they can do that. For Checklists, a user may even enter any
point value they would like to for a specific objective.
What kinds of reports do I get with the program?
The program comes with a variety of reports
including a Student or Item Report, a Class or Group Report, a Distribution
Report, and a Student or Item by Objective by Level Report for the most
detail. Custom reports may be designed
for you by request.
Can I import student or item information into RubricOne?
Yes. Format examples are
available on the site. It’s as simple as opening a file.
Can I export data out of RubricOne to use in other programs?
Yes. Data can be exported in a comma, pipe or tab
delimited format. Comma is perfect for
exporting data to Excel spreadsheets.
If you need a special format, just ask, and we may supply.
So RubricOne can be loaded onto a handheld computer?
Absolutely!
What are the benefits of having it on a handheld computer?
Mobility. Often performance assessments are not in an
environment easily accessible to a desktop computer. The handheld provides mobility.
RubricOne operates on any Palm Operating System, Pocket PC or Windows
operating system. It can run on a wide
variety of multifunctional devices. It
does NOT require a proprietary handheld device. A user can allow multiple graders of the same assessment with
multiple handhelds as well.
How do I get the data to and from the handheld computer?
Synchronize through a connecting cable between the
handheld and your PC or laptop. It can
also be done wirelessly in certain situations.
Either way, it is a very simple operation.
What if I’ve never used a handheld computer before?
They are fairly simple to
use. Even if you do not use any of the
other programs on the handheld, RubricOne is very easy to use on it. Or, if you prefer, call us for a handheld
training/consulting session to learn how to maximize your handheld use.
Can I create or edit my Rubrics/Checklists or Student/Item information
on the handheld computer?
Yes!
RubricOne is unique in this regard.
Not only can a user create and edit these items through the website, but
users can do these same tasks anywhere at any time on the handheld. Create on the plane or at the park or
wherever you feel comfortable. If you
need to create an assessment on the fly, no problem.
Can you aggregate and disaggregate data by school district or an
organization?
Yes.
RubricOne offers a special Admin package that allows an administrator of
the district or organization the ability to disseminate assessments and then
manage the aggregation of data and reports.
For example, a school district could aggregate data by teacher, by
grade, by school, by district, etc. An
organization could aggregate data by location, by district, by region, and
overall.
How much does it cost, and how do I order RubricOne?
RubricOne is run on an ASP – Application Service
Provider. This allows a user to take
advantage of constant updates and improvements to the product. The price is a very affordable annual
license fee. Fees vary. We offer special Education and Government
pricing, quantity discounts, and special pricing for the Administration
packages. Please call to order or order

www.rubricone.com.
If my organization or school district needs some customization for an
application we need, can it be done?
Absolutely.
RubricOne has become the base technology for a wide variety of
applications. If you see a use in your
district or organization, please let us know for a custom quote.
What kinds of data can it store on the handheld?
Student or Item information can be stored – names,
ID numbers, phone, address, parent information, email addresses, gender,
ethnicity or other demographic information can be customized.
Can you view reports on the handheld?
Yes. This
is another great unique feature of RubricOne.
There are a variety of reports that may be viewed on the handheld
including a descriptive bar graph of how Students or Items performed by
Objective by Level. For teachers, this
is great to view for immediate feedback.
At the end of a class period, a teacher can quickly see where the class
weaknesses are, and start to focus on teaching to those.
Can I add comments to any of the scores you assign?
Yes. Every
Objective has a Comment screen along with it.
Not only may you add any comments you’d like, but you can also quickly
and easily choose from a set of Pre-populated comments you may create.
Pre-populated comments – what are those?
Typically, there are a set of
comments most often used with each Objective.
These can be loaded into any Rubric or Checklist Objective. Then, when a user opens the Comment Dialogue
box, a drop down list appears. Click on
the drop down list and simply choose from the list of Pre-populated
comments. These may still be edited
further as well.
